After starting on the bench against Eintracht Frankfurt midweek, Ferran Torres is poised to regain his spot in the starting XI this evening against Osasuna.

The Barcelona forward arrives at the Spotify Camp Nou in blistering form, fresh off a 29-minute hat-trick against Real Betis and chasing a significant milestone.

Ferran Torres chasing Moreno’s record

Ferran is currently the most prolific Spanish striker in La Liga. With 11 goals this season, all of his goals have been scored from open play.

Kylian Mbappe of Real Madrid is significantly ahead with 16 goals, but four of them have come from penalties.

While this certainly makes the Pichichi race interesting, Ferran will have his sights set on a different milestone.

Adding the seven goals he scored during the first five months of 2025, Ferran has netted 18 league goals in this calendar year.

According to Opta (h/t Mundo Deportivo), no Spanish footballer has surpassed that figure in 2025.

The former Man City starlet now has a golden opportunity in the upcoming matches against Osasuna and Villarreal to beat the record held by Gerard Moreno, who scored 21 league goals in 2021.

Since then, no Spaniard has managed more in a single calendar year. Ferran needs just three more to equal that long-standing benchmark.

When counting only domestic competitions and excluding penalties, he is the second-highest goalscorer in Europe’s top five leagues.

With an average of 1.07 goals per game, he is only behind Harry Kane (1.09), who boasts a better rate. Ferran is currently outperforming Erling Haaland (1.06), Robert Lewandowski (0.99), and Kylian Mbappe (0.78) in this specific metric.

Internally, Ferran is also winning the battle for efficiency. He is averaging a goal every 90 minutes this season (13 goals in 1,171 minutes), a sharper rate than teammate Robert Lewandowski, who averages one every 111 minutes.

This is a significant metric for Barcelona as they look to nail down their main forward for 2026.
