Lamine Yamal is undeniably one of the best football players on the planet, and to reach that level of supremacy when still 18 is nothing short of absurd.

The youngster has shown maturity beyond his age and is quite clearly one of the most dynamic, versatile, and explosive wingers in football who can change games at their will.

In fact, such is his importance for both club and country already that both teams have their plans revolving largely around his brilliance on the right wing as their primary weapon in attack.

Unai Simon speaks on Yamal

Speaking to the media in a recent interview, Athletic Club and Spanish national team goalkeeper Unai Simon was asked about Lamine Yamal’s talent and if indeed the player was as good as he is hyped up to be.

“I think what you see is what he truly conveys to us,” he said, admitting Yamal’s undeniable talent.

“He’s a kid with the gift of football and, apart from having the skill, he also understands football. It’s innate,” he added, speaking on what makes the youngster special.

The goalkeeper went on to detail how brilliant the teenager’s decision-making was, something unreal given his age.

“He knows when to pass, when to go out, when to cross. I don’t know if he’s aware of it, but everything he gives us is unique, especially for an 18-year-old kid who has a lot of room for improvement,” he stated.

Speaking on what lies ahead for the Barcelona star, Simon insisted that the sky is the limit as long as the player keeps his feet grounded, which he does at the moment.

“Now it all depends a bit on how he handles everything around him, but I see him with a very sound head for his age.”

The shot-stopper also insisted that the image painted on social media of Yamal being distracted from the sport could not be further from the truth.

“People say no because of what they can see on social media, but we see that he’s a kid who takes care of himself, who does his training, his prevention…”

Finally, he too made it clear that he is a fan of the player and that he hopes the magic continues for decades.

“I hope to see him soon and that he gives us a lot of things in the national team.“
