FC Barcelona suffered a heavy defeat against Atletico Madrid this week and will need a major comeback in order to reach the Copa del Rey final.

However, the Blaugrana are obliged to turn the page on the painful defeat and look ahead. Hansi Flick’s team travels to face Girona at Montilivi this Monday with the objective of recovering their best form and maintaining top spot in La Liga.

No Rashford against Girona

The Barcelona squad held their penultimate training session this Saturday ahead of the match against Girona.

Much like Friday, Raphinha once again worked with the group today, and as such, he is expected to return to the squad for the trip to Montilivi.

However, according to SPORT, Marcus Rashford did not take part in training once again and is therefore practically ruled out of the match against Girona.

The English forward, one of Barcelona’s best performers in their last league game against Mallorca at the Spotify Camp Nou, missed the clash with Atletico Madrid due to discomfort in his left knee caused by a knock he picked up in that encounter.

The issue was never serious, and his absence was described as a precautionary measure. However, Rashford has not returned to training since missing the Atletico Madrid clash, and as such, he is set to be unavailable against Girona on Monday.

Apart from the on-loan Manchester United winger, Barcelona will also be without Pedri, Gavi, and Andreas Christensen, all of whom are recovering from injuries.

Raphinha, though, is expected to be back and available, although the Brazilian is unlikely to be thrust into the starting lineup right away.
