Things are picking up speed at Barcelona as they are now on the verge of closing a second departure from the club today.

Indeed, after it was confirmed that Ilkay Gundogan is on his way to Manchester City, Barcelona are now set to finalise the exit of out-of-favour forward Vitor Roque.

Vitor Roque set for Real Betis

As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Vitor Roque is all set to join La Liga club Real Betis on a season-long loan deal until 2025.

Despite attracting interest from several other clubs, the Brazilian was leaning towards a move to the Seville-based club and had already said ‘yes’ to them.

And after holding negotiations, Betis and Barcelona have come to an agreement over a loan deal until the end of the ongoing season.

The loan agreement will not include any purchase option, with the final details of the deal now being discussed between the two teams.

Barcelona rejected Sporting’s offer

Sporting CP were one of the clubs willing to sign Roque and were even ready to secure his services permanently.

The Portuguese club even made a significant offer to sign the Brazilian, although it did not meet the €30 million asking price that Barcelona had set for him.

However, with Roque leaning towards Betis and Barcelona themselves still having faith in the young attacker, they decided to turn down Sporting, reports MARCA.

The Blaugrana want to retain some degree of control over Roque’s future as they believe that he has the potential to play for the club.

As such, they decided to send him to Betis on loan so that they would still be in control of his future and also see how he adapts to Spanish football with Manuel Pellegrini’s side this season.
