Barcelona and AS Monaco are now on the verge of finalising a deal for Ansu Fati, with just one issue standing in the way, which is the percentage of the player’s salary that the French side will take on.

According to ESport3, both clubs have made significant progress in recent days, and an agreement is now considered imminent. A medical has already been scheduled for this week, signalling that the transfer could be wrapped up very soon.

Unlike last summer, when Ansu was reluctant to leave, the winger is now open to a fresh challenge. Back then, he was still hopeful of reclaiming his place at Barcelona. But things have changed.

With limited opportunities under Hansi Flick and no major offers from other clubs, both the player and Barça have accepted that a move to Monaco is the best option for all involved.

Barcelona initially preferred a permanent transfer but had to soften their stance. Monaco’s consistent interest, combined with the lack of strong competition for Ansu’s signature, gave the French club a stronger hand in negotiations.

Now, a loan deal is being finalised, with only the financial details of the salary distribution left to resolve.

From Barça’s perspective, the priority is clear that they need to ease the wage bill. By allowing Monaco to take on a portion of Ansu’s salary, the Catalan side can move one step closer to financial stability ahead of the new season.

Once the salary issue is sorted, the deal will be made official. The 22-year-old is expected to complete his medical in the coming days, and unless there is a last-minute setback, he will soon be presented as a new Monaco player.
