Barcelona are in a tight spot as they look to finalise exits before the transfer window closes, and Clement Lenglet has emerged as a key player in these plans.

The French defender had reportedly agreed to renew his contract with the club to facilitate a loan move to Atletico Madrid. However, this deal is now facing delays due to financial difficulties on Atletico’s side, causing frustration within the Barcelona camp.

Adding to the story, a report from SPORT has confirmed that Barcelona are growing increasingly impatient as the delay in Lenglet’s move is hindering their ability to register new players, particularly Dani Olmo.

Atletico need some more time

The club is eager to get the deal over the line, but the situation is far from ideal, with Atletico Madrid considering other options and needing to make additional sales to create salary space.

The potential sale of Samu Omorodion is one of the moves they are looking into, but until these issues are resolved, the transfer remains in limbo.

Despite the complications, Lenglet remains focused on joining Atletico Madrid. He has made it clear that this is his preferred destination, but Barcelona are concerned that the deal might not be completed in time.

The club is also aware that Atletico are exploring other defensive options, such as Feyenoord’s David Hancko, which adds another layer of uncertainty to the situation.

Barcelona had set a deadline to finalise Lenglet’s departure by this weekend. The urgency is evident, as his exit is crucial for the club to proceed with registering new signings.

While Lenglet is training with the squad as usual, his future hangs in the balance, and Barcelona are urging Atletico to make the necessary moves to finalise the deal.

Meanwhile, there are other offers on the table for Lenglet, including interest from Real Sociedad and two clubs in Ligue 1. However, these proposals fall short of Barcelona’s financial expectations.

The situation is further complicated by the club’s need to prioritise the registration of Olmo and the signing of two additional players before the transfer window closes at the end of August.
