It is clear that Joan Garcia now ranks among the best goalkeepers in La Liga.

After joining from Espanyol last summer, the goalkeeper has taken his game a step further and has become a vital player in between the sticks for Barcelona.

However, despite all his performances, Garcia has yet to make his debut for the Spanish national team.

He had the chance to make his debut at the end of last year, but an untimely injury meant he was not considered for the Spain squad.

Joan Garcia on Spain NT opportunity

In a recent interaction with MARCA, Joan Garcia has talked about his time at Barcelona so far and how things are going at Camp Nou.

But the goalkeeper also offered his thoughts on his lack of chances in the Spanish national team after being asked about a potential call-up in the near future.

The former Espanyol star sounded quite hopeful despite admitting that he doesn’t always think about the opportunity.

“It’s not something I think about. I guess to keep working and improving day by day, to continue performing at the highest level, even better than I’m doing now.

“So, if I keep working humbly and giving my best in every game, good news will surely come,” he said.

Garcia’s comments come at a time when Luis de la Fuente is finalising his squad for the March-end international break, where La Roja will be up against Argentina in the Finalissima – a game that could see Lionel Messi lock horns with Lamine Yamal.

Spain have another friendly scheduled on March 30 against Egypt, a game where de la Fuente could think about giving Garcia his first opportunity, provided he selects him in the team.
