Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has handed the captain’s armband to a new member of his squad for the evening.
This comes owing to the absence of all five members of the club’s captaincy contingent from the Blaugrana’s latest XI.
Barcelona are of course primed to return to action in short order.
Fresh off retaining their Spanish Super Cup title last weekend, the Catalans have made the trip to 2nd-tier Racing Santander, with a place in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey on the line.
Despite seeing his side’s arch rivals, Real Madrid, sent packing from the competition in shock fashion last night, Hansi Flick has opted to shake up his line-up for the fixture.
And owing to these changes, a new captain has emerged for the evening.
With all of Marc-André ter Stegen, Frenkie de Jong, Raphinha, Pedri and Ronald Araújo absent for Barcelona’s XI, it is Ferran Torres who has secured the captain’s armband in Santander.
