A member of the midfield ranks at Barcelona was afforded a rare chance to take on the responsibility of the captain’s armband on Sunday night.
The player in question? Pedri.
Barcelona are of course currently locked in action on the domestic front.
In their post-international break return, Hansi Flick’s troops have welcomed Valencia to Catalunya’s capital for a La Liga clash.
The Blaugrana headed into the matchup without a whole host of leading players, including Lamine Yamal, Gavi and Alejandro Balde.
It was the absence of the club’s regular captains, though, which as alluded to above saw the armband handed to a new name.
With none of Marc-André ter Stegen, Ronald Araújo, Raphinha or Frenkie de Jong named in Hansi Flick’s XI, Pedri was afforded the honour of leading Barcelona out at the Estadi Johann Cruyff.
The 22-year-old will now be hopeful that as much culminates in a much-needed three-point haul for his side.
