The board at La Liga giants Barcelona are ready to afford a new-and-improved contract to breakthrough young frontman Hamza Abdelkarim. This comes with a view to rewarding the Egyptian for his impressive exploits in pre-season.

Hamza, for those not familiar with his name, linked up with Barcelona on loan from Al Ahly back in January. From here, the 18-year-old did enough to convince the Blaugrana to make his transfer a permanent one during the summer.

Aware of his goalscoring talents, Hansi Flick, in turn, afforded Hamza a chance to impress as part of his first-team setup during pre-season in Catalunya’s capital.

And as alluded to above, the youngster has since managed precisely that…

Across pre-season to date, Hamza found the net against the likes of Birmingham City, Basel and his former club, Al Ahly. And according to Spanish outlet Jijantes, such exploits look set to culminate in an imminent reward for Barca’s latest attacking gem:

‘Barca to renew Hamza Abdelkarim’s contract. The Egyptian’s performance has convinced the club, which is preparing an improvement to his contract.

‘He currently has a 15M€ release clause and work is underway to raise it to 150M€.’
