Barcelona have made more than €50 million through sale of La Masia stars since 2024 | OneFootball

Much to the disappointment of Barcelona’s coaching staff, and especially Hansi Flick, the club recently had to sanction the exit of Pedro Fernandez ‘Dro’.

Regarded as one of the most gifted players to come out of La Masia in recent years, Dro joined Paris Saint-Germain after he expressed his desire to leave Barça earlier this month.

Reports suggest Barcelona are set to earn a total of around €8.2 million as the final fee, even though the youngster had a release clause worth €6 million in his contract.

La Masia: A cash cow for Barcelona?

Thanks to the sale of Dro, though, Barcelona have now made over €50 million from the sale of youth players from La Masia since 2024.

Indeed, in the last two seasons alone, Barcelona have earned €52.5 million from the sale of young players from the youth and reserve teams.

Dro’s transfer to PSG made him the third-most expensive departure during this period, just behind Chadi Riad, who joined Real Betis for €9 million.

Sitting in the top spot is Mika Faye, with the talented defender joining Stade Rennais for €10.3 million.

Other youth players who have left and given Barcelona a profit include Marc Guiu (€6 million), Alex Valle (€6 million), Unai Hernandez (€4.5 million), Jan Virgili (€3.5 million), Estanis Pedrola (€3 million), Sergi Domínguez (€1.2 million), and Noah Darvich (€1 million).

Andres Cuenca could soon join the list, with the young defender reportedly in close talks with Serie A outfit Como.

We must also count the buyback clause and the subsequent payment the club received from the activation of those clauses. That is how Barcelona made another €10 million through the sale of Julian Araujo.

All of this adds up to a figure of just over €50 million, meaning it has essentially been a cash cow for the club, who have failed to get rid of unwanted players.
