The German international, a cornerstone of the team’s defence, is under contract until 2028, making it difficult to justify or attract a significant replacement at this time.

Moreover, he is one of the four captains of the team, which further strengthens his case for staying put.

Considering that Sergi Roberto’s exit is seemingly imminent, the Blaugranes cannot afford to let two of their captains depart in the very same window.

Ter Stegen is crucial to Flick’s project

Well-acquainted with the 32-year-old’s talents between the sticks during his time at the German national team, Flick is looking to place his faith in Ter Stegen at Barcelona.
