Barcelona will have their task cut out as they take on Newcastle United in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 fixture on Wednesday.

The two teams had drawn 1-1 in the first leg at St. James’ Park, meaning a win at Camp Nou will be enough for either side to move into the quarterfinal stage.

Heading into this game, Barcelona do have one key piece of statistics in their favour – their record at Camp Nou.

Barcelona’s impeccable record at Camp Nou

As pointed out by Diario AS, Barcelona have held an impeccable record at Camp Nou.

Since returning to the Spotify Camp Nou on November 22, Hansi Flick’s men have been flawless.

Indeed, Barcelona are currently the strongest team in Europe at home, having won all 11 of their matches since the homecoming.

This impressive streak began with a 4-0 demolition of Athletic Bilbao and has since claimed victims across La Liga, the Champions League, and the Copa del Rey.

In those 11 victories, the Blaugrana have netted 33 goals while conceding just six. What makes this record even more remarkable is that it has been achieved amidst ongoing stadium construction.

For the first ten matches, the team played in front of a limited capacity of 42,000, a figure that was only increased to 62,000 for last Sunday’s 5-2 win over Sevilla.

Despite the restricted atmosphere, the stadium has become an impenetrable fortress.

While the home record is daunting, Newcastle United arrives in Catalonia with a formidable away reputation of their own.

The English side recently secured a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge and held PSG to a 1-1 draw in Paris during the group stage.

Therefore, nothing can be taken for granted as these two sides take each other on at Camp Nou tomorrow.
