In a recent report, Sport revealed that Barcelona have set their sights on Palmeiras playmaker Raphael Veiga. It is believed that the Catalan club are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Brazilian talent.
Veiga is having a great season for the Brazilian club as he has produced a string of influential displays for them in the final third. The 27-year-old has banged in ten goals and grabbed six assists in 20 matches for his current employers during this campaign across all fronts.
The Sao Paulo-born sensation has been a consistent performer in the opponent’s half and has done well to average 5.5 shots, 3.8 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game in Brasileirao. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after making 85% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Palmeiras is set to expire at the end of 2026. Hence, Barcelona will have to make a good offer if they are serious about recruiting Veiga this summer.

Veiga has got the vision to cut open the opposition’s defence with a killer pass in the final third and can strike the ball with venom and precision from long range. He is a technically gifted footballer who can make some dangerous runs in the opponent’s half when he is playing with confidence on the pitch.
The Brazilian sensation mainly functions in the number ten position but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder or as a secondary striker if asked to do so.
At 27, Veiga is entering his prime which makes him a good choice for Barcelona to pursue in this off-season. He will add a handful of goals and some creativity to Xavi’s attack and could help the Catalan club compete for even more major silverware in the coming seasons.
However, it remains to be seen whether Veiga can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga football. Still, there is no denying that Xavi can definitely use someone with his skillset to bolster this frontline later this year. Hence, Barca should try their best to get Veiga on board during this summer transfer period.
