Barcelona hold concrete interest in soon-to-be-free Arsenal midfielder – report | OneFootball

The free-agent market has become a hunting ground for FC Barcelona in recent years owing to their financial situation.

Players like Andreas Christensen, Eric Garcia, and Inigo Martinez, among others, have all joined for free in recent summer windows.

Heading into the summer of 2025, the Blaugrana continue to monitor the free-agent pool for potential signings, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah already believed to be on his way to Barça.

Thomas Partey also on Barcelona’s radar

Now, Caught Offside reports that Barcelona also have Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey on their agenda for the summer transfer window.

Indeed, the Catalans are understood to have shown a concrete interest in the Ghanaian midfielder, whose contract with the Gunners expires at the end of the ongoing season.

There has been no significant progress as far as a renewal is concerned, and it is still unclear whether Arsenal will offer him a new deal considering that he will turn 32 years old in June.

Partey, for his part, is in no hurry to sort out his future either, leaving the situation open at the moment.

Apart from Barcelona, there is significant interest from Juventus as well, who are looking at the former Atletico Madrid midfielder as a reinforcement for the summer.

It must be noted that the signing of a new defensive midfielder is unlikely to be a priority for Barça, considering that they already have a well-loaded midfield unit.

Furthermore, Marc Bernal’s recovery from his ACL injury is progressing well, and his return will only increase the options at Hansi Flick’s disposal.

So, it remains to be seen if Barcelona do decide to act on their reported interest in Partey if he does indeed become a free agent.
