Barcelona hopeful of getting three stars back for next clash with Girona

Barcelona are panning for good news this week, following a sobering double-loss before the international break. The Blaugrana found themselves unable to keep pace with Paris Saint-Germain last Wednesday, and were blown away by Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

One of the reasons cited for their struggles in recent weeks has been injuries.  Alejandro Balde is only just coming back into the side, while Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, Gavi, Fermin Lopez, Joan Garcia and Marc-Andre ter Stegen have all been missing from their defeats.

Barcelona hopeful for triple boost before Girona clash

The Catalan giants return to action in two weeks against Girona in a regional derby, before hosting Olympiakos and then traveling to the Bernabeu for a blockbuster clash with Real Madrid. Sport say that Barcelona are hopeful that reinforcements are on the way.

While there is no certainty on the matter, Barcelona expect are optimistic about having Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Lopez back from injury against Girona. The latter is thought to be closest to returning, while Raphinha’s projected three weeks out takes him until the day before the Girona match.

The least certain is Lamine Yamal, with his groin issue not being the usual muscle injury. It is impossible to tell how he will recover, but he could be back 2.5 weeks later. Their goal is to have him back to 100% for that trip to the Bernabeu.

Barcelona battling injuries

While Hansi Flick’s squad looked a little deeper than last season with Marc Bernal and Andreas Christensen fit, and Marcus Rashford and Joan Garcia arriving in the transfer window, injuries have erased any perceived improvement. Beyond the trio mentioned, Garcia will be the next to return, with his recovery forecast for November. Ter Stegen will not be back in action before January, and Gavi is likely to be out until February.
