It seems as if the summer transfer window will be a massive task for FC Barcelona to get through. Both in terms of potential arrivals and departures, the Catalan club will need to be extra careful in their dealings. Fortunately, it seems that Barcelona is already studying various operations ahead of time.
Players continue to be linked to the club, and there is a recurring trend in terms of which positions the club actually wishes to reinforce. However, even beyond just new reinforcements, Barcelona will also have to deal with the incoming interest from other clubs as well.
Thanks to the team’s brilliant performance throughout the season, several players have seen their values in the transfer market increase. Certain players have even seen a massive resurgence despite having been unable to display their best versions previously.
One such player is 27-year-old Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who has undoubtedly been one of Barça’s most important players this season. Since taking over from Marc Casado as one of Flick’s guarantees in the team, the Dutchman has gone from strength to strength under the new coach and in his current role within the team.
In fact, Fichajes is now reporting that his performances have even attracted the likes of certain top Premier League sides as well. Both Liverpool and Chelsea have been mentioned, and both teams would reportedly be willing to offer a transfer fee in the range of around €65-70 million for the player.
They believe, as per the report, that the transfer offer that they have in mind is something that Barcelona would accept if they are willing to offload the player. However, on the other hand, it seems that the Catalan giants wish to retain the Dutch midfielder and instead convince him to renew his contract.
At his current level, Barça find him to be a necessity for their team, and Hansi Flick reportedly wants the club to tie him down as well. Already a crucial piece of the puzzle for the German coach’s system, the 27-year-old player is seen as someone who still has a lot to offer to the team.
Thus, Frenkie is someone whose contract the club really wants to renew as soon as possible. Work is going on behind the scenes when it comes to that concern, and there is a much better feeling now surrounding the whole thing, as De Jong now seems more open to renewing.
