Barcelona have flourished under Hansi Flick this season, with the team’s revamped playing style yielding impressive results.

Both Raphinha and Lamine Yamal have performed exceptionally well, impressing onlookers with their consistent performances.

Despite their success, the club’s management believes they need additional firepower on the wings to maintain their momentum and compete across all competitions.

As a result, Barcelona’s sporting directors are actively scanning the market for a specialist left winger, a position they feel lacks depth despite Raphinha’s adaptability.

Nico remains the priority

As reported by Diario SPORT, top of the list for Barcelona is Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, a player who was close to joining the Catalan camp in the summer.

Despite rejecting a move to Camp Nou, the club remain undeterred and plans to reignite their pursuit at the end of the season.

Williams’ release clause, set at approximately €65 million due to inflation adjustments, makes him an attractive option in an increasingly inflated transfer market.

Pairing him with Yamal, a combination that has already wowed audiences at the European Championship, is seen as a game-changing move for Barça.

However, his salary could pose a challenge. Currently earning between €9 million and €10 million net annually at Athletic Club, his wage demands may force Barcelona to explore alternatives.

The case for Kvaratskhelia

Should a deal for Nico Williams prove unfeasible, Barcelona could turn their attention to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The Georgian winger has continued his form at Napoli under Antonio Conte, registering five goals and two assists in Serie A this season while leading his team to the top of the table.

Kvaratskhelia is negotiating a contract renewal with Napoli, reportedly seeking a significant salary increase and a release clause of €80 million.

His current wage of €1.5 million net is modest compared to his contributions, with the player requesting a raise to €6 million. These factors might make him a viable option for Barcelona if negotiations with Williams stall.
