La Liga giants Barcelona are working tirelessly behind the scenes, to land the club’s priority summer transfer target.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Nico Williams as the player in question.

It is of course Spanish football’s worst-kept secret that the powers that be at Barcelona have identified wide-man Nico as a leading target to reinforce the attacking ranks of new head coach Hansi Flick.

The 21-year-old – in the midst of a stellar Euro 2024 campaign with Spain – is considered the ideal profile to join Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski in a star-studded front-three in Catalunya’s capital.

In turn, it should not come as a major surprise to hear that efforts to make Nico’s arrival a reality have already been kicked into gear.

As per Sport:

‘Behind the scenes, Barça is making progress on negotiations and in permanent contact with La Liga to confirm that Nico is the operation they are pursuing.’

This contact comes with the Blaugrana working in conjunction with the Spanish football authorities, to ensure that their financial situation returns to a point by which a big-money bid for Athletic Club’s star man can be sanctioned.

Not only that, but Deco remains in constant contact with Nico’s representative, who has long confirmed his client’s desire for a Camp Nou switch.
