Barcelona are in talks to sign Real Betis defender Natan, formerly of Flamengo, as they consider cover for Ronald Araújo, who is negotiating with Liverpool.

The 25-year-old made 45 appearances for Betis in 2025/26, registering one assist. According to TNT Sports Brasil, he views Barcelona as a major step, drawn by the chance to fight for trophies and play in the Champions League.

Initial talks took place in June, but Betis demanded 30 million euros, roughly R$176.6 million, which cooled negotiations. With Araújo potentially departing, contact over the Brazilian has resumed.

Natan broke into Flamengo's first team in 2020, playing 15 times and scoring once in the heptacampeonato campaign. He joined Bragantino on loan in 2021, was later bought for R$22 million, then moved to Napoli in 2023 before signing for Betis in 2024/25.

Betis will also compete in the Champions League this season for the first time in two decades, though they are not among the favourites. Natan's silverware came at Flamengo, including one Brasileirão, two Cariocas and several youth titles.
