Barcelona are increasingly warming to the idea of making a move for Harry Kane next summer as the club maps out its plan for life after Robert Lewandowski, per Mundo Deportivo.
With Lewandowski’s contract winding down and the Polish striker turning 38 in 2026, Barca view the signing of a top-tier No 9 as a key part of their rebuild.
Julian Alvarez remains admired inside the club, but Atletico Madrid’s reluctance to sell and his deal (which runs until 2030) make the Argentine a highly complicated and expensive target.
That has pushed Kane to the forefront of Barcelona’s thinking.
The 32-year-old reportedly has a release clause of around €65 million that becomes active at the end of the season.
This figure is considered excellent value by Barca chiefs in a market where elite strikers are costing eye-watering sums.
However, their interest in Kane is about much more than his affordability. He is one of the best players in the world right now.
The Englishman has bagged 23 goals in 17 matches for Bayern this season while remaining a talisman for England.
Barcelona also see him as a complete forward. He brings outstanding link-up play, 127 career assists, and leadership pedigree.
There is also confidence within the club that Kane would adapt seamlessly.
His form in Germany has already shown he can thrive away from the Premier League, removing one of the potential doubts about such a move.
Barca are not expected to make final decisions until early 2026.
They can pursue a marquee striker only if Lewandowski leaves, clearing the €40m impact his salary and amortisation have on the books.
The club are also exploring reinforcements at left-back, with Alejandro Grimaldo seen as an ideal profile to provide competition for Alejandro Balde.
Grimaldo will have only one year left on his contract this summer, and a return to boyhood club Barca is on the cards.
