In their ongoing quest to bolster the backline, FC Barcelona have cast their net towards the Bundesliga, identifying a potential cost-effective solution for their defensive worries. The club's sporting department, led by Deco, has set its sights on Borussia Dortmund's versatile full-back, Julian Ryerson, as a primary target to add depth and competition on the flanks.

The information comes from reputable German journalist Patrick Berger of Sky Sports, who revealed via social media that the 28-year-old Norwegian international has emerged as a concrete option for the Blaugrana. The club's hierarchy reportedly views Ryerson as a potential alternative who could provide cover and challenge for the right-back position, currently occupied by Jules Koundé.

Sources suggest that initial contact has already been established between Barcelona's representatives and the player's camp to sound out the feasibility of a move. However, discussions remain in a preliminary phase, with no formal offer presented to Dortmund at this stage.

Ryerson, who made the switch from Union Berlin to Signal Iduna Park in January 2023 for a modest fee of €5 million, has developed into a reliable and tactically astute asset for Die Schwarzgelben. His consistent performances over 121 appearances, contributing 7 goals and 11 assists, have solidified his reputation. With a contract binding him to Dortmund until 2028 and a market value estimated at €20 million, he represents the profile of an experienced, financially accessible target that aligns with Barcelona's current strategic needs in the transfer market.
