At just 16 years old, Gilberto Mora has been one of the revelations of the Under-20 World Cup currently taking place in Chile.

His standout performances with the Mexican national team, combined with more than 40 appearances for his club, Club Tijuana, have placed him firmly on the radar of major European teams.

Barcelona eye Gilberto Mora

Now, according to reports in Mexico as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are one of the clubs monitoring Gilberto Mora’s progress.

The 16-year-old prodigy had already been attracting interest from other leading clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Ajax.

Now, it appears that Barcelona, too, have joined the list, along with Arsenal, Manchester City, as well as Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami from the MLS.

It must be noted that the Catalans had already extended an invitation to Mora to train at La Masia last year.

Mora is a versatile attacker capable of playing across the front line, although he most often starts from the left wing. Comfortable with both feet, though naturally right-footed, he is quick and strong in one-on-one situations.

In addition, the teenager possesses good vision and is always willing to make off-the-ball runs to provide passing options for his teammates.

Mora has already drawn attention with his two goals against Spain in the Under-20 World Cup. His agent, Brazilian representative Rafaela Pimenta, stated that he could make the move to European football in the summer of 2026, insisting that the youngster “is ready.”

With Barcelona joining the list of admirers for the Mexican wonderkid, it will be interesting to see if a move materialises come summer.
