Barcelona missing out on top target Julian Alvarez in the summer has turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as Raphinha has flourished in a number nine role this season.

But that doesn’t mean the Catalans are ready to operate without a traditional striker for the foreseeable future and are still keeping tabs on Alvarez.

According to TuttoJuve, Barcelona and Juventus are among the clubs interested in making a move for Benjamin Sesko in the summer of 2027.

Although the report largely points out how Juventus are in the market for a new striker, and are looking at Sesko and Folarin Balogun as potentials, Barça have been mentioned as a key interested party.

Sesko currently plies his trade for Manchester United, having joined the club in 2025. He has since netted 14 goals in 38 competitive matches.

Standing at 1.95m, Sesko is a poacher in every sense of the word and has an imposing presence inside the box. He is surprisingly great at link-up play as well.

The report points out that Sesko is currently valued at €75 million and his future will be evaluated at the end of the season.

Should Barcelona go after Sesko?

There’s no doubt that Sesko is a top class striker who has the ability to lead the frontline of any top club in Europe.

However, as far as Barcelona are concerned, the club could use the services of a more mobile number nine, who is not afraid break his lines and operate dynamically in the final third.

That is part of the reason why the club were desperate go after Alvarez this summer and also why Raphinha is doing so well this season.

Keeping that in mind, Sesko might not be the ideal candidate for the Blaugrana, especially given that he is going to cost a fortune next summer.
