Barcelona’s plans for the goalkeeping department could receive a timely boost this summer, with one of the club’s preferred targets now facing an uncertain future at Real Sociedad.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Alex Remiro is considering a new challenge away from San Sebastian, creating a situation that Barcelona are following closely as they continue to shape their squad for the coming seasons.

The Catalan giants have several important decisions to make between the posts. 

While Joan Garcia is expected to play a significant role in the club’s future plans and Wojciech Szczesny continues to provide experience, Barcelona are still evaluating options that could strengthen the position further. 

In that context, Remiro remains a goalkeeper who is highly appreciated within the club.

Although Remiro still has a contract with Real Sociedad until 2027, the report suggests the goalkeeper is seriously reflecting on whether the time has come to take the next step in his career.

An exit is not considered inevitable, but it is a possibility that is gaining traction. 

Real Sociedad, on their part, are aware of the player’s thinking and appear willing to assess offers should a suitable proposal arrive.

So far, Barcelona have not advanced beyond initial monitoring and informal contacts at this stage, but they continue to track developments carefully.

The situation remains open, especially as other clubs have also entered the picture.

In that regard, Napoli are among the teams showing interest in the Spanish goalkeeper and have already been linked with a potential move. 

However, no formal negotiations between the Italian side and Real Sociedad have taken place so far, meaning the race remains wide open.

Interestingly, Real Sociedad’s preparations for the future may already be underway, with Pellegrino Matarazzo requesting the arrival of a new goalkeeper, a move that could indicate the club is preparing for the possibility of Remiro’s departure.
