Despite having won everything, barring the UEFA Champions League, FC Barcelona are looking to strengthen their squad further in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Blaugranes’ main priority is to bring in a new goalkeeper and a left winger, but if their FFP situation allowed, they would like to address some other weak areas in the team as well, and the arrival of a new fullback cannot be ruled out.

This is particularly the case because Deco does not want a player as inexperienced as Gerard Martin to be the Catalan team’s starter when Alejandro Balde is unavailable on the left wing.
In this regard, Mundo Deportivo reports that the player most liked by Barcelona for this purpose is Alejandro Grimaldo, whose quality, experience, and knowledge of the club are all attractive to the Blaugrana club.
In fact, the Catalans have been monitoring the fullback for several months now and understand that he wants to leave Bayer Leverkusen and return to his native country of Spain. Thus, the Germans would not try to prevent his departure too much if the right price is paid for him.
Although he is valued at €40 million at Transfermarkt, he can arrive at Barcelona for less than half this amount, i.e., from around €15-18 million.
However, it still remains to be seen whether Barcelona will have enough financial margin to make a move for him. Meanwhile, Alejandro Grimaldo continues to await news from clubs interested in him, while his future at Leverkusen is also quite secure, as he has a contract till 2027, and he is an established starter there.
One of these suitors is Real Madrid, which has Alvaro Carreras as their preferred target for this position, but is eyeing Grimaldo as an option if they are unable to land the Benfica defender.
