Barcelona icon Lionel Messi is close to making a definitive call on the next chapter of his career at club level.

This comes amid confirmation that the Argentine is close to reaching an agreement with Inter Miami over the terms of a new contract.

Messi is for his part in the midst of another predictably productive campaign to date.

Across 21 appearances in Major League Soccer, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has directly contributed to a hefty 29 goals.

In turn, it has come as little surprise to learn of those behind the scenes at Inter Miami working towards a contract extension for Messi with the club.

And if the latest word stemming from the media late this week is anything to go by, then a final agreement on the terms of as much now appears closer than ever.

As per a report from market expert Fabrizio Romano:

‘Lionel Messi, closing in on new deal at Inter Miami with agreement at advanced stages. Not a done deal yet as of today with few points to clarify and MLS approval to all conditions to follow. The agreement could be sealed soon with talks accelerating in recent weeks.’
