Barcelona legend shuts down Messi-Lamine comparisons | OneFootball

Former Barcelona star Jordi Alba has this week moved to play down the ongoing comparisons between teammate Lionel Messi, and breakthrough Blaugrana talent Lamine Yamal.

Wide-man Lamine has of course long been considered something of a long-term heir to Messi in Catalunya’s capital.

Already considered one of the game’s very best players at just 18 years of age, the Spanish international appears to boast all of the traits needed to establish himself as a Barcelona legend.

Lamine followed in the sizable footsteps of Messi before him this past summer, in taking ownership of the Blaugrana’s no.10 jersey.

Boasting breathtaking dribbling abilities and an eye for the spectacular, comparisons between the pair, in turn, were inevitable…

As alluded to above, however, one individual who is not at all on board with such discussions is Jordi Alba.

Having spent the finest years of his glittering career lining out alongside Messi, in both Spain and the USA, left-back Alba assured during an interview with El Larguero (as cited by Diario Sport) that:

“Comparing Lamine with Leo… There is no possible comparison. Leo Messi has no rival in my opinion.”
