AS Monaco star Vanderson will not be making a move to Spain with Barcelona this summer, despite long-standing links.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Monday provided an insight into the situation.

The name of Brazilian Vanderson will no doubt be a familiar one to those of a Barcelona persuasion. This comes with the 23-year-old having been persistently linked with a potential Blaugrana switch over recent seasons.

Earlier this year, speculation pointing towards a joining of forces between the parties ramped up once more, after it was revealed that Deco and co. were actively scouring the market for right-back reinforcements.

Vanderson is for his part understood to have been keen on the move, eager to test his talents at one of the continent’s leading clubs.

If the latest word stemming from Spain early this week is anything to go by, however, then the defender need not get his hopes up.

As per a report from MD, owing to the emergence of Eric García, Barcelona are no longer on the lookout for a new right-back.

It is in turn concluded that:

‘The defender now knows that Barça’s plans don’t include a significant outlay for a right-back, with Koundé, Eric García, and Héctor Fort in the mix. The player’s entourage has commented as much to MD.’
