Andreas Christensen’s partial ACL tear makes it all but clear that the defender will not make it back in time before his contract runs out, and that his season is virtually over.
The centre-back’s injury, thus, opens up a possibility for Barcelona to look for an emergency signing in the ongoing winter transfer window to fill the space newly created on the wage front by his injury.
Luka Vuskovic, Tottenham Hotspur’s 18-year-old defensive talent on loan at Hamburg, has stood out as an option for the Catalans in recent days, especially given his form and quality.
Speaking in a recent interview (h/t Mundo Deportivo), the Barcelona-linked star’s father, Daniel Vuskovic, opened up on his son’s future and whether a move was possible this winter.
“I don’t know if Tottenham only sees him as a future player or if they would be open to a transfer if he received an adequate offer,” he said, leaving the door open.
He then addressed the long-term future of his son and revealed that the final decision lies with Tottenham.
“What he does is not up to Luka. He has a contract with Tottenham and everything will be decided by consulting with them. Although so far, everything has been as fair as possible; Spurs have respected Luka’s opinion.”

Keeping the bar high and pushing Vuskovic to keep going to greater heights in the coming months, the player’s father said,
“We expect positive results from him in Hamburg for the next six months and then we can calmly consider how to proceed.”
“He will stay in Hamburg until June and then we will meet with Tottenham to see what the best option is,” he added, all but ruling out a winter transfer.
Finally, he spoke on how he saw it best for Luka to stay in Germany and develop a little longer before making a move to a top club.
“I don’t want him to skip the stages of development and go straight to the English Premier League, which I think is the strongest league in the world.”
“Luka still has a lot of development potential. In my opinion, it would not be bad if he stayed in Germany. For Luka, the most important thing in 2026 is that he continues training and working as before. Then everything else will be fixed,” he added.
