Barcelona spent much of the summer transfer window trying to sign a striker of their own, Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.

However, the last few days have been spent trying to convince a striker already in their squad, Ferran Torres, to stay amid strong interest from PSG.

The club are currently awaiting an offer from the Ligue 1 giants for Ferran, even though the player’s stance is not clear.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barça have made their position crystal clear regarding Ferran Torres, with the club insisting the Spain international is not for sale.

The Catalan giants continue to view Ferran as an important part of Hansi Flick’s plans and have no intention of putting him on the market this summer.

The club remain committed to offering the 26-year-old a contract extension once the summer transfer window closes, even though doing so would trigger an additional payment of around €8 million to Manchester City under clauses included in his original transfer.

Ferran has been very useful for Hansi Flick during his two seasons under him, despite not always being a starter.

Last season, he slowly but surely started emerging as the first-choice striker option ahead of Robert Lewandowski.

That willingness to extend his deal reflects the confidence Barcelona continue to have in the Spain international.

Flick remains a strong admirer

One of the biggest reasons behind Barcelona’s position is Hansi Flick’s appreciation of the forward.

The German coach values not only Ferran’s versatility across the front line but also his professionalism, work ethic and attitude in both training and matches.

With Lewandowski having left the club, the Spaniard is currently the only natural striker in Flick’s senior squad.

Even Barça’s search for a new number nine this summer is not said to be linked with Ferran’s future, with the club continuing to view him as an important member of the attacking unit.

Only one scenario changes Barcelona’s stance

While Barcelona are not looking to sell Ferran, the report adds there is one situation that could force the club to reconsider.

If the player personally requests a transfer, Barcelona would then assess the situation and decide whether to negotiate a sale or keep him for the final year of his contract.

As things stand, however, the report states that Ferran has not communicated any desire to leave.

The 26-year-old is currently on holiday after scoring the winning goal for Spain in the 2026 World Cup final.

Despite persistent links with PSG, Barça do not need to worry about Ferran’s future unless the Spaniard explicitly asks to leave, and it remains to be seen how his future pans out.
