Hansi Flick has been quite the revolutionary at Barcelona ever since he replaced Xavi Hernandez as the head coach.

Despite being in charge for only a year so far, Flick has made widespread changes to the way Barcelona and its players operate, behave and work together.

Under Flick, several struggling Barcelona players have found a lease of life, with Ferran Torres being the latest one to join the list.

Flick’s revolution has translated into success as well, with Barcelona notably bagging the domestic treble last season while reaching the semifinal of the UEFA Champions League.

Hansi Flick awarded coach of the year

In light of his success at Barcelona, German publication Sport BILD has honoured him with the prestigious Coach of the Year award.

The event was held in Hamburg and attended by 700 guests, which included tennis legend Boris Becker, who won in the legend category.

Flick could not attend the gala, but he accepted the award through a video call. With the season already underway, it appears the German opted to stay back in Barcelona and help the club prepare for the upcoming matches.

Nevertheless, Flick’s triumph comes just a month before the highly anticipated Ballon d’Or gala in Paris, where Barcelona players are likely to dominate.

The likes of Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Pedri are among the players expected to be given a high rank in the final voting, with Yamal emerging as one of the two favourites.

Flick, meanwhile, is a candidate to win the Coach of the Year award, though he faces stiff competition from Luis Enrique, who led PSG to their first UCL title last season.
