Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is making it clear that he will not rush Lamine Yamal’s return to the field, despite the team’s heavy reliance on the young player, reports SPORT.

Although Barcelona’s performance without Yamal has highlighted his significance, Flick is prioritising the long-term health of the 17-year-old over a quick comeback.

It is evident that Barcelona’s attacking game suffers without Yamal. His presence on the pitch leads to more goals scored and fewer goals conceded, as his attacking threat keeps opposing defences on edge.

However, despite the clear dependency on his ability, Flick is determined not to push him back into action unless he is fully fit.

This decision comes after Yamal suffered an ankle injury, which although not severe, caused enough concern to make the coaching staff cautious about rushing his recovery.

Flick has made it clear that the youngster will only return when there is full confidence in the condition of his ankle, as pushing him too soon could lead to a more serious injury.

So what’s the plan with Yamal?

Yamal has been focusing on gym work during his recovery and was not considered for the match against Celta, with the medical team originally estimating that he would be out for two to three weeks.

His potential availability for the Champions League match is uncertain, and with the team having other priorities, Flick is committed to looking at the entire season rather than just one game.

The coach knows that the team’s ability to win without Yamal has been challenging, but he emphasises the importance of being patient.

His return will not be rushed, and if he does feature in upcoming matches, it will likely be as a substitute, especially if the situation becomes urgent.

In the end, Flick’s strategy is clear: the season as a whole is the priority, and Yamal’s long-term fitness must come before any short-term gain.
