As Barcelona prepares for a crucial presidential election, one of the club’s biggest young stars has made his position clear.
Lamine Yamal, already one of the most important players in Hansi Flick’s team despite his young age, has sent a strong signal about where his support lies ahead of the vote.
The teenage winger shared a photo of himself alongside presidential candidate Joan Laporta on social media.
The image was taken inside Barcelona’s commercial office next to the model of the new Spotify Camp Nou, on the day Yamal signed his contract extension with the club.
While the post may appear simple at first glance, its timing has made it highly significant given the political climate surrounding the election.
During the campaign period, there had already been reports suggesting that many members of Barcelona’s first team supported Laporta.
Hansi Flick and several players were believed to favour his leadership, but until now, there had been no public images clearly linking the squad to the presidential candidate.
Yamal’s decision to share the photograph seems to remove any doubt about his stance.

The gesture is also important because of Yamal’s growing influence inside the squad.
Even though he is still extremely young, the winger has become one of the standout figures in Flick’s project.
Laporta’s campaign has also seen support from several figures connected to the first team. Flick himself attended one of Laporta’s campaign events together with sporting director Deco and club official Bojan Krkic.
Meanwhile, former Barcelona star Samuel Eto’o has also publicly asked fans to vote for Laporta.
Notably, players from the first team who are eligible to vote are expected to cast their ballots after Barcelona’s match against Sevilla.
The timing means that the squad will head to the polling station during the final hours of a decisive day for the club’s future.
Laporta is seeking reelection as president, and the support of key figures within the team could play an important role during the election.
