FC Barcelona faced heartbreak when they last took to the pitch, as, despite winning the game 2-1, they were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Following this elimination, Hansi Flick gave two days off to the team to recover mentally and physically, in addition to the one recovery day right after the game. As a result, the Blaugrana team returned to training only today, on Saturday, ahead of Wednesday’s game against Celta Vigo.

However, the return to training did not come without concerns for the German tactician. According to Mundo Deportivo, in addition to the long-term absences of Andreas Christensen and Raphinha, there were two more players absent from this session, i.e., Fermin Lopez and Marc Bernal, as they are also nursing some problems.

Fermin remained in the gym after suffering a painful blow to his upper lip during the clash at the Metropolitano, where he required stitches following an accidental kick from Juan Musso.

The 22-year-old midfielder also underwent further treatment upon returning to Barcelona, with the medical staff keen to avoid any risk of contact that could reopen the wound. While there is optimism over his availability, he will only feature against Celta if he is fully fit and protected.

Meanwhile, Bernal is still dealing with the effects of an ankle sprain that has not completely healed. The coaching staff is taking a cautious approach, although there is confidence that he could be ready in time for Wednesday’s encounter.

Thus, it remains to be seen whether these two players will be able to get ready in time to face Celta Vigo as Barcelona return to action in La Liga on Wednesday.
