Dr Carles Minarro was a deeply respected and cherished figure within the FC Barcelona dressing room, and his sudden passing has left a profound impact.

As reported earlier today, among those most affected is midfielder Dani Olmo, who had known the doctor for years, as had his family.

Dani Olmo’s father pens emotional tribute

Now, SPORT reports that Olmo’s family has also been deeply affected by the sudden passing of Dr Carles Minarro.

Miquel Olmo, a former coach and father of the Barcelona playmaker, paid tribute to his longtime friend with an emotional message shared on social media.

Miquel Olmo worked closely with Miarro during his time as head coach of Terrassa and Sabadell. During those years, they forged strong personal and professional bonds. And his farewell message was deeply moving:

“Why, Doc? You would have explained it to me, with patience and that unique sense of humour of yours. We shared some of the best moments of my coaching career – stories we later told Dani and Carlos like old war tales.

“You were not just my doctor (since 2009) or Dani’s (since 2016); you were there for my family and friends, always ready to help, never saying no…”

Miquel Olmo went on to express his gratitude, writing: “You improved my parents’ quality of life – endless thanks for that – as well as that of my children, my wife, my brothers, my friends… anyone who crossed your path.

“You loved your job and knew how hard you had worked to reach the top. And you had made it. If I could ask you why now, I know I would not like or accept the answer… I want you here, we all do, but you are no longer with us.

“I will miss the Doc, but even more, I will miss my friend Carles, who was part of the family we built around Dani.”

The heartfelt message concluded with sorrow and admiration, as he wrote: “It is incomprehensible and so unfair – such pain! My deepest condolences and all my strength to Mar and your children, to your entire family.

“Farewell to a great man, a dear friend. Thank you for making me better, for everything you gave. May the earth be light upon you; we will never forget you.”
