Gundogan arrived at Barcelona only last summer but soon became an integral part of the team under Xavi Hernandez, contributing with crucial goals and assists as well as leadership on the field.

However, of late, there have been some rumblings over his future despite his relationship with new manager Hansi Flick, with the pair having worked together in the German national team.

Gundogan’s salary, coupled with Barcelona’s options in midfield, have cast some aspersions over his continuity and now Al Sadd have presented him with a way out.

Indeed, the Qatari club, who were previously managed by Xavi, have sent forth a contract offer for three years for the midfielder, which he is contemplating.

Gundogan is currently away on vacation after having led Germany to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Euro 2024 and is expected to rejoin training with Barcelona just in time for the trip to the USA.

Flick & co. would be eagerly waiting for Gundogan’s return considering the injury problems hampering Barcelona in midfield – Gavi, Pedri, and Frenkie de Jong are all currently sidelined through injury.

As has already been reported, Barcelona will accept whatever decision Gundogan makes regarding his future and as such the ball seems to be in the former Manchester City captain’s court.
