Sharing his excitement at being back with the Dutch squad, De Jong expressed a sense of optimism and eagerness to contribute after more than a year away from international duty.

Although he acknowledged some lingering discomfort, De Jong remains confident that he will soon be fully fit, seeing this return as a stepping stone toward even greater performances with his national team.

“I’m fine, I have some pain but I think everything will be fine,” he said as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

“I’m very happy and I’m looking forward to the future. It’s been a long time since I played for the Dutch national team. It’s a great honour and I’ll always be happy to be here. I’m happy to be back,” he added.

De Jong reflected on his journey back to fitness, especially after the significant challenges of his ankle injury, which had sidelined him during a critical period, including the European Championship.

“It was difficult, it was a very painful injury. It was a tough ankle injury. I missed a lot of games and the most important thing was the Euros of course, so it was very difficult.”

Missing such a high-profile tournament was a disappointment, and the recovery process was anything but easy. However, he managed to push through, and now, his focus is on regaining his top form and conditioning.

“I started playing again. I’m getting back to 100% where I should be in terms of form and fitness, so at the moment I feel good,” he noted.

With the Netherlands’ upcoming fixtures on the horizon, De Jong’s motivation is apparent. His commitment to the Dutch squad and his determination to make a strong impact on the field are clear.
