According to a recent update from Catalunya Radio, tension has surfaced between Barcelona midfielders Gavi and Fermin Lopez, despite their long-standing friendship from their La Masia days.

The pair, who came through the club’s youth system together, have always been close, but things appear to have changed since pre-season.

The first sign of trouble came during Barça’s summer tour in Korea.

What’s the story?

In a training session, Gavi made a very tough tackle on Fermin.

Known for treating every training drill like a competitive match, Gavi’s challenge shocked his teammates because it was overly aggressive and could have caused injury.

Thankfully, Fermin was unharmed, but the moment created unease in the squad.

When the team returned to Barcelona, the situation escalated further. Gavi reportedly pushed Fermin during another training session.

This time, Fermin reacted strongly and demanded answers in a sharp tone. While it did not lead to a physical fight, the atmosphere between the two clearly shifted.

Senior players such as Ronald Araujo and Raphinha had to step in, urging both to make peace.

In front of the group, the two hugged and moved on, but underlying tensions remained.

Thiago’s role in restoring harmony

During the summer transfer window, speculation grew about Fermin possibly leaving the club.

Some reports even suggested that Gavi had pushed for his sale. However, Hansi Flick did not approve any exit, and with Fermin himself keen to stay, no transfer ever took place.

Now, the situation might find a solution with the arrival of Thiago Alcantara in Barcelona’s coaching staff.

Having graduated from La Masia himself, Thiago understands the pressures of the club and can act as a calming figure in the dressing room.

His presence is expected to help ease tensions, encourage dialogue, and rebuild trust between Gavi and Fermin.
