FC Barcelona are drawing up their transfer plans for the summer of 2026, and at the top of the priority list will be to find a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski.
The 37-year-old striker’s contract expires at the end of the season, and Barça president Joan Laporta wants to bring in a marquee attacker to take over the reins.
As already reported, Atletico Madrid and Argentina striker Julian Alvarez is the Barcelona chief’s No. 1 target for the role.
However, at the same time, Barcelona do not rule out making an approach for Manchester City goal machine, Erling Haaland, reports SPORT.
The 25-year-old Norwegian international was a subject of interest for Laporta and Barça back in 2022, when he ended up signing for Manchester City.
While the club’s financial situation meant that an approach was out of the question in recent years, Laporta is prepared to go big in 2026.

It should be remembered that an election year is approaching, and the president will use every resource to secure a major signing that excites the supporters.
As such, the name of Haaland has resurfaced as an option for Laporta and Barcelona, and an approach is not ruled out at this point.
Laporta’s excellent relationship with the Norwegian striker’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, also works in his favour.
The 25-year-old megastar has been in terrific form in the new season, already racking up 12 goals and two assists in 11 matches.
However, Manchester City have tied Haaland down to a very long contract until 2034. As such, it will likely take an outrageous transfer fee for the Premier League giants to even consider the possibility of selling the ace striker.
