The relationship between Javier Tebas and FC Barcelona has not always been a positive one. Fortunately, it appears that even the La Liga president did not create too many issues for the Catalan club this summer. In fact, when asked about player registrations, his answer was rather optimistic.
However, if there is one thing that the league president and Barça seem to see eye to eye on, it is the fact that more money needs to be generated. To do just that, both parties are now close to making the idea of playing a La Liga game in the United States of America a reality.

According to SPORT, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is now open to the possibility of hosting a particular fixture involving Barça at the Miami-based Hard Rock Stadium. The fixture in question would be a game between the Catalan giants and Villarreal in December.
That particular game, one that is set to be played in a week with no European fixtures, could prove to have a viable timeline for all the involved parties to organise the match. Moreover, even though a Copa del Rey round is scheduled for around that time, it could be moved around and adjusted to facilitate the two teams.
Even Tebas previously stated that organising such a game with Barça would be easier to do than with Real Madrid due to complicated relations with the Madrid-based side. However, this opportunity is one that will be mutually beneficial for both La Blaugrana and La Liga.
Since the Catalan side wants to broaden their global appeal and engage with foreign fanbases more as well to create new revenue streams, this suits their objective. As for La Liga, pending votes and coordination with UEFA and FIFA once the proposal has been discussed with top Spanish football officials, this match would be the first of its kind.
It would, without a doubt, be a major milestone for Spanish football and one that could have a significant financial and media-based impact. While the match is yet to be finalised, this could be a great opportunity but one that will likely have its fair share of critics as well considering the nature of the whole ordeal.
