The goalkeeping position is one area of the FC Barcelona team where the most changes have taken place in the last few days. The Catalans have overseen the departure of several goalies, while still working on the exit of more of them.
Those who have already left include Inaki Pena, who has joined the Greek side Panathinaikos in exchange for €3 million, and Ander Astralaga, who left the club after having run out his contract.
On the other hand, the Blaugranes are still working on the departure of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and are reportedly close to completing his loan transfer to the Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam.
Meanwhile, another goalie that was close to a departure from Barcelona was the youngster Diego Kochen, whose loan move to the Danish side Lyngby Boldklub has been reported widely in the last few days.
Now, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, Barcelona and Lyngby have officially announced this season-long loan, and the Danes would also have the option to purchase the goalkeeper permanently for €1.5 million at the end of this loan. If this purchase option is exercised, the Blaugrana side will retain 40% sell-on rights on the player.
The youngster had spent the last few years alternating between the first-team, being one of the third-choice goalkeepers for both Xavi Hernandez and Hansi Flick, and the reserve team. But now, he wants another project where he can play at the top level regularly.
Lyngby appeared to be a particularly suitable side in this regard, as they play in the Danish league, which provides a good showground for players to attract the attention of clubs from bigger leagues in Europe. Players like Rasmus Hojlund, Mikkel Daamsgard, and Patrick Dorgu all played in this league before making the jump to major European leagues.
Hopefully, this loan move would also benefit Diego Kochen, and he would take the next step in his career, while Barcelona seem to have already found their long-term starting goalie in Joan Garcia.
