Barcelona on alert as Marseille open talks for Celta Vigo star | OneFootball

The board at Barcelona will be keeping a close eye on the latest developments behind the scenes at La Liga rivals Celta Vigo.

This comes amid mounting interest in the signature of Celta standout Óscar Mingueza.

Defender Mingueza is for his part fresh off a standout season in Vigo, which saw the 26-year-old shine across several roles.

All told, in 34 La Liga appearances in 2024/25, the defender racked up a head-turning four goals and six assists.

As much proved enough to earn for Mingueza an international recall, for Spain’s Nations League campaign.

And it was also evidently sufficient to spark interest in the Catalan’s signature from across the continent.

As per a report from transfer insider Matteo Moretto:

‘Marseille are interested in Oscar Mingueza, as previously reported by Diario AS, but as of today the French club does not want to pay the €20 million release clause. Talks between the parties will continue to see if an agreement can be reached.’

This saga, as alluded to above, will be closely followed by those in a position at Spanish champions Barcelona over the weeks ahead.

This comes with the Blaugrana boasting a considerable 50% sell-on clause as part of the deal which sent Mingueza to Balaídos back in 2022.
