As we move closer to the start of the new season, Barcelona are increasingly getting anxious about their squad-building.

The club continue to face economic pressure and are in need of fresh revenue as they look to register new summer signings, Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford.

This has forced the club to consider potential sales, with Marc Casado emerging as one of the players linked with a move away from Catalonia this summer.

The young midfielder, who was one of La Liga’s rising stars last season, has been linked with a move to various clubs, with even Atletico Madrid joining the race to sign the player.

Barcelona open the door for Casado’s exit

According to La Vanguardia, Barcelona have opened the door for Casado to leave the club this summer amid mounting interest in the transfer market.

The club have told the player’s agent that if a desired offer comes across, the player is free to leave and the club won’t stand in his way.

This comes in the midst of concerns of overbooking in the Barcelona midfield, especially with Marc Bernal also coming back from injury and Dro making an impression in pre-season.

Casado, therefore, will have to face stiff competition if he wants to earn a prominent place in the starting eleven.

Keeping that in mind, the youngster may consider making a switch in order to further his career, especially with the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid interested in his services.

Casado is valued at around €30 million by Transfermarkt, but one would expect Barcelona to earn a lot more money, considering the fact that the midfielder has a €100 million release clause tied to his contract.
