Ansu Fati returned to FC Barcelona last summer after a forgettable loan stint in the Premier League with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Despite there being speculations about his future, manager Hansi Flick decided to keep the 22-year-old La Masia forward at the club in the hope of returning him to his best level.

However, things have hardly gone according to plans for Fati and Flick as the young attacker has barely featured this season, having suffered two injuries and not showing enough quality on the pitch when given a chance.

Fati hopeful

Despite the situation being as it is, Mundo Deportivo reports that Ansu Fati remains hopeful of earning more playing time under Hansi Flick as the team looks towards 2025.

After recovering from a hamstring injury that kept him sidelined for over a month, he was included in the squad for Barcelona’s 1-2 defeat against Atletico Madrid, although he did not play a single minute.

With the injury to Lamine Yamal, the Barça No. 10 could be in line for more opportunities than he has had so far in the early parts of 2025.

Since returning to Barcelona this season, Fati has only played 158 minutes and has not scored or assisted a single goal.

But the upcoming period, wherein Yamal will be unavailable, could be the perfect opportunity for him to prove to Flick that he deserves more consideration as a forward in a squad that is currently the highest-scoring team in La Liga (50 goals) and the Champions League (21 goals).

As reported earlier today, Fati has requested to continue training during the Christmas break, indicating his desire to get in peak physical condition, become a more viable attacking option for Barcelona, and put the struggles of the past few seasons behind him.
