FC Barcelona and Oriol Romeu share a long history together. Beyond just being a La Masia product, the Spaniard has more or less stayed close to the club. Interestingly, he returned to the club just recently in 2023 from Girona.

Now, however, a return to the other Catalan side could be a real possibility with La Blaugrana looking to offload him this summer. In fact, Hansi Flick even left out the 33-year-old veteran when selecting the squad that ultimately travelled to Asia for the Barça preseason tour.

Still, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Romeu has continued to showcase elite professionalism even with the selection snub and the club’s decision to offload him this summer. He has continued to train on his own, and is still doing so irrespective of the team’s return to Spain.

While his future gets sorted and he remains in talks to terminate his contract, Romeu continues to focus on his individual training without making a fuss. Despite an exit looking likely, with clubs like Girona and Real Oviedo being interested, one cannot help but admire his commitment.

Even if Romeu leaves this summer, Barça should not forget his professionalism and commitment despite everything. He has remained a diligent servant to the club, and fans should respect him for whatever effort he has put towards defending the badge.
