At present, Barcelona are managing several injury setbacks, and the situation of Gavi remains one of the most delicate. The midfielder is once again dealing with discomfort in his right knee, an area that already suffered a serious injury in the past. Understandably, both the club and the player are approaching the issue with great caution.
On Friday, Gavi underwent an evaluation at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, accompanied by his family and agent. Following the medical assessment, and in agreement with the player’s entourage, the decision was made to continue with conservative treatment for another week.
The 21-year-old had already missed the recent match against Rayo Vallecano due to this problem, and for now, surgery remains only a secondary option.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the coming week will be decisive. If the pain diminishes and the current treatment proves effective, Gavi will remain on the same recovery path.
However, if the discomfort persists, the likelihood of arthroscopic surgery will increase. The timing factor is crucial: should he require surgery, his expected absence would be around five weeks.
Barcelona’s medical staff are aiming for the midfielder to return fully fit after the October international break. If the conservative treatment continues to progress well, Gavi could be back in action by then or even sooner. However, should surgery be required, the hope is still that he will be available shortly after the next league pause.
For now, calm prevails at Barcelona. The priority is clear: to ensure Gavi makes a complete and safe recovery, without unnecessary risks.
