Two members of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona have on Tuesday responded to the head-turning recent round of comments laid out by manager Hansi Flick.

This comes after the German made use of the opportunity to send a crystal clear message the way of his squad regarding their attitude.

Barcelona were of course held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by Rayo Vallecano this past weekend.

The Blaugrana were subjected to heavy criticism for the level of their performance at Vallecas, with Hansi Flick, for one, having refused to bite his tongue in his post-match press conference.

Clearly unhappy with his side’s display, the German explained:

“The most important thing is that, once the transfer window is closed, everyone is 100 per cent committed to this club. No egos, because egos kill success. Last season, we played as one unit. We have to be like this again.”

And as alluded to above, two members of Barcelona’s squad have since provided their responses to as much.

First, asked if he felt that Flick’s comments were directed at any player in particular, Pedri admitted:

“I don’t know. I think he’ll tell us when we return from the break.”

And fellow Spanish national team star Lamine Yamal shortly after provided his take, explaining:

“I don’t think it was about egos; it just wasn’t our game. We didn’t start with the same intensity we finished with. He’s right that we made a lot of mistakes, and we have to improve. We’ve taken 7 out of 9 points in very tough stadiums, and people don’t mention that. We haven’t even played at home yet, only away.”
