Barcelona’s win over Real Madrid last weekend was absolutely monumental from the point of view of the La Liga title race.
The result on the night, after all, had the ability to swing the title race in either team’s favour, but the better team came out on top comfortably regardless.
Having secured the three points against their arch-rivals, Barcelona moved seven points clear of them at the weekend and are now on the cusp of a second league title in three years.
As relayed by Alfredo Martinez in a recent update, Barcelona are set to celebrate their achievements on a grand scale once they seal the La Liga title.
After all, they have completed a domestic treble in Spain this year with the Spanish Super Cup, Copa del Rey and La Liga title all coming home.

The dates of the festivities and celebrations are yet to be ascertained but there will be a bus parade and a celebration at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys ahead of Barcelona’s clash against Villarreal should the race be sealed by then.
At this point, Barcelona are very close to mathematically sealing the title and are in complete charge with three games to go.
If Real Madrid lose to Mallorca later today, they will be proclaimed champions even before they kick off their game against Espanyol tomorrow.
Should Real Madrid beat Jagoba Arrasate’s men, a Barcelona win over Espanyol midweek will still be enough to clinch the title.
The UEFA Champions League will go down as the one black spot in Barcelona’s campaign, but considering that they were just two minutes away from the final at one point, the season is still a grand success. Massive celebrations, needless to say, are warranted.
