Barcelona’s 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid on Sunday was not something the club were hoping for, as the loss will do a great deal to hamper the team’s confidence.
It will also help Real Madrid extend their lead at the top of the league table. But despite the blow, Barcelona players did not forget to thank the supporters for their backing.
After the loss, several Barça players took to social media to share messages of unity, gratitude, and determination.
Fermin Lopez, who scored Barcelona’s only goal of the match to make it 1-1 in the first half, was among the first to post. The midfielder shared a picture of the team celebrating.
“Culers! Thank you for your support in the stadium and from all over the world! We gave everything, but this continues and there is a lot left. Now focused on the next matches. Very proud of the team’s work! Força Barça Sempre!” he wrote.
Gavi echoed a similar sentiment, posting the same team image with a short but passionate message: “Always with you to the death.”
Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, one of Barcelona’s best performers on the night, also thanked the fans for their support, writing:
“Today wasn’t enough, but our work is far from over. Thanks for the support, culers.”
Meanwhile, Dani Olmo focused on the road ahead: “All together we continue fighting, culers! There’s still a long way to go. Força Barça.”
Marcus Rashford, who also featured in the match, offered a note of self-criticism, posting: “Clearly not the result we wanted yesterday. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and we’ll keep fighting.”
Fermin notably responded to Rashford’s post with a heart emoji and adoring hands.
